How I Found Circus by Claire Ogden

It can be easy for me to forget that there are many people who’ve never been to a contemporary circus show. Circus is such a big part of my own life. I teach circus, I watch circus, I have circus friends and a circus community and circus festivals that I attend regularly on the other side of the country. Although I only stumbled across this amazing world in 2009 when I worked in the office of contemporary circus company, Circa. By day I worked full time in the office and by night I was an enthusiastic student, learning from some of the best circus teachers in the country. I often tell people that getting that office job that changed my life. Now entering my eighth year of business, I am more excited than ever to help people build confidence, coordination and strength through circus. Every week I practice my own skills too so I can be the best teacher and performer I can be. The skills I currently teach include hula hoops, juggling, aerial tissu, acrobalance, basic tumbling, poi and spinning plates – all fun and challenging in their own way. Check out the class schedule page for more information about classes with me in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
